Bruce’s Aircraft Covers:
These are exterior covers for those of us who spend more than a few days at a
time out of the hanger.
EFB (electronic flight bag): I currently
use the Fujitsu P1620
Lifebook computer tablet with Chartcase Professional.
These products are worthy of consideration.
Enhanced Flight Group An excellent resource for
a variety of modifications and accessory items which every Malibu/Mirage owner
should consider:
A 28 Volt - 60 Amp clean, portable power
supply to help load CMax charts or just run avionics safely on the ground for
training purposes. Plug it in to any 115 V outlet - A must have for glass
cockpit owners and a good idea for everyone else as well. I own one and use it
regularly for CPT (cockpit procedures training) in my programs.
(Please note that the one Sporty’s Pilot
Shop sells is inadequate for this purpose. The Sporty’s power supply is 24 V,
not 28V and it is only 20 Amps – NOT adequate). Also note that it is unwise to
start turbine engines with less than 1200 AMPS available since a hot start
could result. Any power supply which you can physically lift off the ground
will not be adequate for start procedures.
A Polyurethane boot for your radar pod –
Folks, this is SO important. If the boot gets chipped and you fly in the rain,
you will run the risk of damaging the radome beyond repair, so get one of these
on your aircraft ASAP.
An Ice light for the tail of your
aircraft – if you fly in ice at night, you need this product, because the tail
surface will accrete ice first.
A very well
constructed yoke mount for the Garmin G396 or G496
Exxon Elite piston engine oil:
This oil exceeds all other oils in rust prevention
Garmin 496 – A portable GPS with XM
weather and audio entertainment. This version also has airport diagrams. Tropic Aero is
currently offering a trade in for older units.
Flashlights:

Photon Micro-Light III
with a very clever “hands free” accessory clip.
GAMI (General Aviation Modifications): a good
source for piston engine management issues. If you want to run your piston
engine lean of peak you need this equipment.
Kennon Sun Shields:
Use these custom foil inserts to shade your aircraft from the sun while parked
on the ramp. Get the full set to include the 6 passenger windows. Using the
pleated shades is a bad idea because the pleats come un-creased and wrinkled
when left deployed for too long.
McMurdo GPS Fastfind Plus:
This 406 MHz Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) will get the rescue helicopter
within 30 feet >>> FAST
Storage bottle for your
turbine (or piston) engine oil:
11 oz aluminum bottle: These bottles are indestructible and perfect for
storing small quantities of oil. Make
sure you label them properly.
